1. How many jobs have you had, and which was your favourite? 9, plus 16 years of self-employment. My current job is my favourite. What other job would you spend the morning struggling to produce monthly accounts and then in the afternoon watch pancake races and eat pancakes? 2. When did you first connect to other people via computers? 1985 And I lot of the connection was ‘It’s broken again – come and fix it.’ 3. Were/are you on AOL? Compuserve? LJ? Dreamwidth? A Listserv? Other? LJ. And Dreamwidth, although really just to keep in touch with a few people. Also Tumblr and Twitter (under a different name). 4. If you went to college, does your major match your career/current job? Maths. I still work with figures. 5. Have you had a mammogram? Colonoscopy? Yes. No. 6. When did you get your first cell phone? What was it like? (Did it have a screen? Could you text? Was it a brick or flip?) It was a Nokia and large. SM and I shared it, so whoever went out took it. I’ve just got a new smartphone, because the old one didn’t have enough memory to update anything. I did complain I had to upgrade early because the other one wasn’t fit for purpose, but got nowhere. This one doesn’t seem to understand the word default, as in by default predictive text is on – no it isn’t; and the default number for my mother is her mobile, so it sent my text to her home phone. 7. When did your family first acquire a colour TV? Don’t remember. My grandparents had one in 1968, my parents after that. 8. When did your family acquire a second TV? When my son was in his early teens. And then another for my daughter a couple of years later. We have one now. 9. Did you ever own “designer jeans”? Haha, no. 10. Have you ever been to a disco? School discos, university discos (Hi Ho Silver Lining anyone), work Christmas do discos. Then Brownie discos, where I proved I still couldn’t do the actions to Reach for the Sky. 11. How many places (towns, states, countries) have you lived in? 9, all in the UK. 12. Have any of your contemporary friends died? Not that I know. But since I lost touch with my school friends years ago, it’s quite possible. 13. Are your parents still living? My mum is, my dad died 6 years ago. 14. Do you have any gray hairs? Yep. 15. Did you or your family own a Betamax? No. 16. How did you spend New Year’s Eve 1999/2000? Don’t remember. Our village celebrated the end of 2000, saying that was the end of the millennium. 17. What’s the oldest article of clothing you still wear? Haven’t a clue. If they’re that old and I’ve been wearing them they’ve fallen apart. 18. Do you eat your vegetables? Yes, we grow awesome vegetables at work. 19. Are the privileges of adulthood worth the responsibilities? What? 20. Do you feel like an adult? Am I supposed to? 21. Is youth wasted on the young? Definitely. They haven’t a clue what they’re doing. Mind you neither do we, but we no longer care. Anyone else want a go? |
