Ooh, Snowmen
Dec. 11th, 2015 10:40 amAnd it's the end of term!
Last week we went to Frankie & Bennys. 19 Brownies on one long table ... It went surprisingly well. We pre-order their meals and then have lists telling us what each girl has chosen and this year there were no arguments. We poured and handed out drinks - the restaurant provided us with jugs so we could top them up. After the first glass (plastic beaker) which was as per their selection, I walked along the table holding various jugs saying 'who wants some of this' - the majority weren't bothered and the finicky ones ended up with water. We endeavoured to keep vague order and were truly delighted when the waitress made a point of coming over to us after the Brownies had left to say how polite and well-behaved they'd been.
This week we made snowmen, out of a child's white sock (Brown Owl bought packs very cheaply) and filled with rice.
( Snowman )
They looked good when completed - only one managed to drop hers when filling it with rice - and one of the others somehow got a hole in the snowman's side (we had no idea how she managed that), which required some emergency repairs. And then I got sent off to the big hall to run games whilst the other two leaders cleaned up what turned out to be a surprising amount of spilled rice.
They all went home, clutching a plastic bag with their snowman in. A number of the parents were impressed and said so when they came to wish us a Happy Christmas. And I now have a box of chocolates provided by a happy mum!
